Lienes Society is a women’s support community in Northern BC

For women who are juggling everything and still feel like something is missing.

Women who are holding it together on the outside but privately overwhelmed, unhappy, or unsure of themselves. Women who don’t fit the typical mould of someone in crisis, but who need support, connection, and space all the same.

We exist to be that space.

About Us

We’re a mother and daughter from Northern BC. Between us, we bring clinical experience and years of building and running organizations, but what shaped Lienes most is that we’ve each had to find our way back to ourselves after relationships that made us lose sight of who we were.

Along the way, we kept meeting the same woman. Capable, present, devoted to everyone around her, and somewhere along the line, lost to herself. We built Lienes because that woman deserves somewhere to land.

The name is a phonetic spelling of lioness. We chose it because of what she represents: fierce protection, quiet leadership, community. We also drew inspiration from the flamingo, who loses her colour raising her young and slowly gets it back as they grow — you’ll see her in the gradient of our logo, grey shifting into rose. Both felt true to us, and to the women we’re building this for.

Who is this for

This space was built for a specific gap

There are resources in our community for women in acute crisis; for women who need emergency shelter, immediate intervention, or support navigating addiction and mental health. Those resources exist and they matter.

But there is very little for the woman who doesn’t fit that profile. The woman who is still living at home, still managing her career, her kids, her household, who looks from the outside like she has it together. Whose struggle is just as real, just harder to name and harder to ask for help with. That is exactly who Lienes is for.

Women at any stage: in a relationship they’re not sure about, thinking about what leaving might look like, in the middle of it, or on the other side trying to figure out what comes next. With children or without. At any age. At any income level. What we share is not a circumstance. It’s an experience of quietly carrying too much, for too long, without anywhere to put it down.

WHAT WE’RE DOING

Right now, we’re gathering.

We host small women’s groups to facilitate honest, open conversations in a setting that’s warm and unhurried, with no pressure to have it figured out before you walk in. Our sessions are a mix of connection, education, and hands-on experience. That might look like a conversation about finances or navigating the legal side of a difficult situation. It might look like an afternoon in the garden. Often it’s both, because rebuilding a sense of self rarely follows a straight line.

What we’re doing now is the foundation of something bigger. Groups and programming are where we’re starting, with more to come as the community grows.

How it works

Lienes is a specific kind of space, and part of our process is making sure it’s the right fit. There’s no judgement in how you get here or what brought you, but we do take the time to get to know you first. There is no cost to participate.

GET INVOLVED

There are other ways to be part of this

Lienes is early in its journey, and building something like this takes a community of its own. If you’re not looking for support yourself but feel drawn to what we’re doing, we’d love to hear from you.

That could look like an interest in facilitating a workshop or session, sharing your professional expertise, making a financial contribution, or supporting us with in-kind services. It might just mean knowing someone who should know about us. Reach out at info@lienessociety.com and we’ll go from there.
